Friends. The Ocean. Target. Avila Barn. Farmers Market. Firestone. Rutiz Farms.
If it wasn't for these things, we would move. This place is amazing, a destination point for so many travelers every year. But it is stinkin' expensive. And let's face it, it is missing something vital to survival. Grandparents.
There are very few people that I ever ask for help, but when I found myself with an extremely sick child, and then wound up sick myself I sent out my S.O.S signal. Straight to my mom. Unfortunately she lives about 7 hrs. away. But fortunately, she would drop anything to come and help me. My mother-in-law is the same way. Totally selfless and always ready to help. I just wish they lived closer. I hear stories from friends about how they drop their kids off at their moms' house so they can run errands, go on dates with their hubbies, or just take a nap. Do they know how good they have it? To have someone that close that loves your child and that you trust with the safety of your child? If you are out there and you are reading this, never take that for granted.
It is my biggest wish. Until then, we will settle for sparse but special moments like these.

My parents live next door to us. And I'm so thankful. There are times when I take it for granted and forget how good I have it. But man, families like you guys... I don't know how you do it. I have a good friend, both sets of parents live out of state. It's sooo hard for them. So hard.
So cheers to you people. You parents that do it on your own without any help. I don't know how you do it but you make it happen. Wild.
Good job:)
I wish you had that too Jenn! When my mom got hurt and could not get out of bed for two months I almost died! I felt what it would be like with out grandparents near by. Friends are great but you can't ask them to take care of two sick people. You mom is great and maybe someday she will move here!
I feel ya Jenn. Wish we lived closer so we could swap babysitting.
love ya!

We have that feeling everytime we go "home." We always wish we lived closer to family. We miss them so much and it would be a blessing to have the grandparents live closer. I am glad that your mom was able to come and help out and for the time being all we can do is enjoy the moments we do have. Thank you for posting that. :-)
We do love our grandchildren! Thanks for the cute picture and the Bubba & me.
Love,
Mom
I do know how blessed I am, and how incredibly lucky my girls are! I know we aren't family but we do love you and bubba so much!
even though my parents are in texas, it is nice having derek's parents 5 minutes away...we've never had to pay for a baby sitter. something i hope we never take for granted! :)
btw, one more thing i'd add to your "if it wasn't for" list is...Chipotle! i can't wait to try that new chipotle out next time we're up there. haha. i know, i'm easily pleased.
